Becoming a world citizen in a Doughnut Economy

Doughnut Economics views the household as a player in the economy. The household’s current situation is pictured on the poster, in recognisable life themes about happiness, work and friendship, family, home and hearth and place of residence. Subsequently, it is characterised in a business-like way by looking at goods, mobility and cash flow, for example. The philosophy of Doughnut Economics is introduced as a way of forming a worldview. The transformation symbols help complete the picture on the poster. From consumer to world citizen, from wasteful to conscious and responsible housekeeping: that’s what this lifemap is all about.

Workshop programme

The aim of this scenario is to give you the chance to experience what it means to take responsibility, also as individual citizens and families, for your own ecological footprint. Using city stickers, you make a life course of the household. The city stickers sketch an integral image not only of the city, but also of the household. The life course is divided into the four aspects of the Master Code of Care: take care of yourself, others, the place, the earth. Informed by the seven ways of the Doughnut economy, you select principles from the organising stickers which could help to apply them. A workshop programme of at least three half days goes with this scenario. There will be a regular exchange of ideas during the workshop. In addition to stickers, supplementary literature will be used to provide more information about what constitutes an ecological footprint and how an overall view of your own footprint can be obtained.
